Unlike traditional terrestrial survival games where air is universally breathable, ATMOSFAR simulates high-altitude hypoxia, air filtration saturation, and rapid decompression risks.

Understanding the vertical stratification of the sky canyon is paramount before venturing far from the oxygenated halls of your Cloud Cruiser.

The Three Vertical Atmospheric Strata

Tycos features three distinct pressure zones marked clearly on your HUD altimeter:

1. Temperate Cloud Stratum (0m to 1,200m)

Status: Breathable with basic suit intake valves.
Filter Wear: 1.0x baseline degradation.
Environment: Floating islands in this layer feature green hardy mosses, small fresh-water condensation pools, and gentle thermal updrafts.

2. Hypoxic Mesosphere (1,200m to 2,800m)

Status: Air is too thin for standard suit intake.
Filter Wear: 2.8x accelerated drain.
Requirement: You must consume pressurized Oxygen Syringes or operate from an airtight pressurized cockpit (such as the upgraded Wasp Class Mark II).
Hazards: Lingering here without supplemental O2 causes blurry vision, loss of stamina recovery, and eventually blackout.

3. The Toxic Abyssal Sea (Below 0m Sea Level)

Status: Extreme toxic chemical vapor and crushing barometric pressure.
Hazard: Immediate hull corrosion and suit failure. If a player or airship descends below zero elevation, ejection and emergency grapple deployment is the only survival option.
